Searching and searching for ways to get home to Türkiye is really taking its toll.
So today we we went for a walk and decided we were having a day off from it. We ended up in the German Bakery where we had drinks. Liz insisted we had cake too.
We’re going to have a kitty for joint shopping and the plan is to be careful with the pennies. It won’t really affect me as I’m a terrible shopper and spender.
Holi day started yesterday and is today as well. Most of the shops were closed. A couple came into the bakery covered in paint powder. If anyone comes for me I’ll be livid. I’m not in the mood to be daubed in paint.
I’ve not unpacked my case, I have 3 outfits that throw on easily. I bung them in the machine, on the airer and ready to wear a few hours later.
We’ve not heard about our flight, but Indigo 6E11 Delhi to Istanbul has been cancelled every day so far according to flight stats. Still hopefully though, but scared about refuelling in Ras Al Khaimah.
Paint crisis averted we spent the rest of the day by the pool, until we couldn’t bear the heat any longer. It’s getting hotter and more humid daily and we’re still praying we’ll be gone before the monsoon.
Feeling lazy we opted for Cedrous restaurant, literally across the road from La Grace where we’re staying, in Benaulim.
I oopted for paneer Lababdar (labrador as we call it) and obviously a cheese garlic naan. Delicious. The waiter, Christo, reminds me of my son when he grew his hair long. He’s really sweet, he gets our humour and nothing is too much trouble. I want him as my Indian son.
I mentioned that we still haven’t tried their local drink, Feni. Christo got us all some to try. It makes Turkish Raki look like gnats pee. My goodness it’s strong. I could feel the heat as it reached my stomach.
Liz wants to try Kahlua, so we walked to the nearby bottle shop to try and get some.
There was a bit of a drunken fight going on, Police were patrolling too. First time we’ve seen that but normal apparently when there’s festivals or holidays.
We spotted 3 tiny pups and gave them the rest of Lizs paneer tikka masala. An English lady pulled up on a scooter. It was at least half an hour before we got away. She’s an avid dog feeder and is often out on her scooter until 2am looking after waifs and strays. She’s a psychology prefessor, but honestly she seems on the edge of a breakdown with it all. Shes been involved in animal help here for 22 years. She doesn’t drink or do Charlie, whoever he is, but she seemed like she was definitely on something.
She mentioned Cavalossim, apparently much nicer, cleaner and few dogs.
I looked it up later. Apparently if we go we won’t want to come back. I feel a bus trip coming on.
By now the bottle shop was closed and Kev & Sharon were fast asleep when we got back to La Casa.
Time for bed said Zebedee.
