I’ve wanted an activity as feeling bored. The activity I ended up doing wasn’t on my short list.
Thousands of the little critters. John would have had kittens, he can deal with any insects, but not ants.
That was exciting.
Liz began eating some cranberry granola while I told her about the ants. She immediately spat it out. It wasn’t sealed, but I’d checked and couldn’t see any in there. She wasn’t risking it.
We have breakfast included in our price. It wasn’t the best, but better than nothing. I’m going to take our own jam, granola and yogurt over tomorrow. We stole some bowls and cutlery.
After breakfast we spoke to reception about our Internet. A guy came and demonstrated to me how to use the TV.
I explained re kitchenette, nothing in it. We can get bowls and cutlery from the dining room. I didn’t confess our sins – we stole some earlier.
Next, charades, demonstrating running tap in kitchen and putting hands under the tap and shrugging. He returned with a soap dispenser. New charade. Running hands under the tap and wiping on my dress. Ahh ok. And a toaster please. Shrugs. Toast. Demonstration of a slice of bread. Shrugs. Showed him our jam and did a spreading action. No.
WiFi? OK. Electrician.
3 hand towels came. Great.
I tried on my birthday kaftan. All 4 of us could have got in it.
Liz and I walked into town to replenish meds and toiletries and to change the kaftan. They were all the same, so we got a refund and bought one over the round that has a drawstring.
Poor Kevin and Sharon were having a drink in the shade after finding it too hot at the pool. We had gone out last and left the key on the table.
So, our apartment..
- It has a kitchenette which consists of a sink and a kettle, 4 plates, 4 cups and . I stole some bowls and cutlery from the dining room.
- One fan in the lounge
- A balcony with no furniture
- Terrible wifi
- Ants
Our old one grubby one
*fully stocked kitchen, toaster, cutlery, induction hob, pans and cooking tools
*washing machine
*2 lounge fans
*good wifi
*we can prepare a much better breakfast
Later they brought a portable WiFi.
Ahh much better.
We’re paid up here until 10th but as our old one is available after all we’ll be moving back until we (hopefully) fly home. They’ve given us a great deal at just under 7 pounds a night each.
We had snacks at lunchtime. I decided to have some muesli. Opened the zip lock, poured some in a bowl. Infested with ants!
Liz decided to go back to the pool. The rest of us were antisocial in our rooms, with aircon, watching downloads. Heaven. I even fell asleep.
Next I knew Liz was phoning. I declined it twice thinking she was calling by accident. So did Kevin and Sharon. Poor Liz. 10 minutes trying to get in.
We went to Brilliant restaurant again tonight. I asked the waiter what was in the different curries. Palak? Peanuts. Ooh yum. Yes please.

Oh, sorry no, that’s not mine. Peanuts he said. Oh why is it green. Spinach and Peanuts clearly sound the same. Oh god.
It was actually very good once I ignored the colour!
Would I order it again? Not unless by accident.
Tonight the street dogs had a feast. Muesli, which they weren’t keen on, and leftover curry and a plain popodom.
