After a lovely peaceful sleep in Çinar we set off to Olivelo nature park about 30 minutes away.
Reviews said it was looking run down and forgotten but we loved the rustic charm and the otherwise empty car park where Maisy enjoyed running free and having a good sniff. There were schoolchildren in the distance litter picking and having great fun.

I began to make breakfast and we were looking forward to the walks and historic remains. I’d just started cooking scrambled eggs as the Jandarma pulled up. After an eternity of checking IDs and number plate they were off. I had asked if we could stay over night or just daytime. They explained it was Belediye land so no overnight stopping. Ok. Tamam.
Before I had the chance to resume breakfast they were back.
What do we plan to do here?
Walk with the dog, see the antiquities.
No. You can’t stay. You must leave.
Now? Yes
Why? You must leave.
Ok.
They weren’t leaving until we left. So I balanced beans under the kettle in the cupboard, barracaded the toaster, complete with bread in it, with cushions on the bed, and put the scrambled egg pan in the sink. Off we went. A 6km scrambled egg challenge to a car park in a pretty village. Not one drop of egg mix was harmed in the process.

Well done John, lovely smooth driving. I might balance a jug of Malibu in the sink permanently.
There was nothing but a hardware shop and 2 scared dogs to keep us in Bademli so had our breakfast and then drove 15 minutes along from there to Sığacık. We now have a beautiful seaview. It’s very windy, which makes it cool enough to enjoy. We walked into Sığacık town.
It looked like it’s been invaded by tanks. Block paving churned up everywhere, rubble and sand. We’d been told how beautiful it is by friends. Maybe they arrived by boat?

We persevered and shortly found ourselves inside the old castle walls in an oasis of beautiful little streets and alleyways. Wow. We saw references to snails and hedgehogs. I later read that it’s Türkiyes 1st ‘slow city’. Orange snails are even painted on the bus stops. https://blog.turkishairlines.com/en/turkeys-slow-cities-havens-of-tranquility/

We stopped for çay and John nipped to the chemist to get plasters. His blister is huge and red raw, makes my tummy flip looking at it. Not in a good way. Eeeek
We later decided to stop for the künefe we never found yesterday. Sadly they only had one so we continued our search but got distracted by trilece in a nearby cafe. The slices were huge and the tastiest ever.
Back to Naz, a few games of rummicub, John is back on form. He’s not even banged his head much today.
Lentil curry tonight. Never thought I’d love lentils, let alone eat them twice within a week.
This evenings film was the Children’s Train. I loved it. John didn’t sound so sure.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_childrens_train We watched another Squid Game episode before saying goodnight to another lovely day.
Loved that film
