16.10.24

Since getting back from Budapest 3 weeks ago, it’s been a whirlwind of friends coming over. Back just in time to catch up with Sarah and her mum Pam, Terrie & Simon, Mark & Yvonne and the Wickies, Kev & Linda.

Simon ended up staying for an extra week and stayed with us while having some dental work done, which was lovely. He came with bacon, cheddar cheese, gravy granules and UK chocolate biscuits. Even better. Yum.

The Wickies – Kev & Linda- brought sausages, parsnips, and squirty squash so right now the value of our house has doubled.

Kev & Linda were up to all sorts of antics as usual, but my favourite was about them barking at the man who empties the bins, as the usual barking dogs weren’t there on that occasion. He told them to shush whilst everyone around roared with laughter. Telling the cable car guys that they were going up to make a baby was another highlight.

I wish I’d been there!

Happy days 🙂 Felt very flat when they’d all gone, but another half marathon for John in Manisa on 20th October and…we’re meeting up in Marmaris with my son Curt and the lovely Cherry tomorrow. Wooohooo.

Thats the fun stuff. As usual a bit of a drama:

John tried to move Naz, our 18 year old Mercedes Camper van, 2 weeks ago. Nothing. Tried jump starting from our car. Nothing.

Bloody van. That’s it. She can go. Even John agreed. It’ll cost a fortune to get her towed to the garage.

A message to our favourite diesel expert, and in no time at all he was round with his manual pump (oh god, now I’ll end up with yet more targeted adverts)

Poor Naz had wind. Lots and lots of bubbly wind.

She started immediately and the following day Ibrahim changed her diesel pipes. So she’s staying.

John has also been having trouble, not with his pipes, but with his teeth.

This morning he had his 4 perfect crowns fitted. He’s a happy bunny. The temporaries were really uncomfy, the end result is great.

It was around 11am by the time we finished loading Naz and set off towards Marmaris.

We parked looking over a bay by Hisar Kamp, 30 mins outside Marmaris, where we’d parked earlier this year. We had the place to ourselves that time, but now is still within tourist season and ‘our’ wooden platform is filled with restaurant tables and chairs.

It was too windy to sit outside so we parked with a perfect view and just chilled. Fried potatoes, schnitzels and mushrooms for dinner.

We were blessed with a beautiful sunset and everyone else left apart from some people picnicking.

We watched a new Netflix drama, The Promise. Each episode is an hour and a half. Don’t think we’ll be watching anymore of it.

We lightened the mood with Romesh Ranganathan in Zimbabwe, fabulous!

Night night.
