Off to Gallipoli, Türkiye, with Naz van.
We bought Naz, our motorhome in May 2021. Post covid, life’s too short, it’ll be fun blah blah.
In an ideal world we would have bought a young one, with low mileage. Instead we bought within our means, a 15 year old ex public bus with high mileage.
Her conversion is beautiful and it was love at first sight. I remember my Dad saying we wouldn’t go wrong with a Mercedes.

As per usual, dramas before setting off. Our last Naz trip was in August, to Lake Gidev a couple of hours (or more if you break down on the way) from our home in Fethiye Türkiye.
After that issue was sorted she decided not to start part way through our journey home. Electricity, a battery charger and a bit of swearing and we made it home.
Knowing there was an issue but maybe hoping it was a blip, John tried starting her a week before we were due to leave on this trip.
Long story short, starter motor removed, taken to repair shop, refitted, removed again, solenoid changed and a new battery we’re on our way.
So once again Naz is under threat of disposal if she does any more naughty things.
We left home at 11am and within 45 minutes the red EDC light came on, the cause of our Girdev Lake issues, supposedly fixed at Seydikemer Sanay repair shop.
In a split second it disappeared, well done Naz.
We zoomed over the hills and far away to Camelia and onwards to Denizli enjoying superb mountain scenery. Mostly.. I was knitting a jumper and watching Honeymoon Island. The latest in a long line of dating programmes of that ilk. I’m usually addicted. Not keen on this one but managed all 14 of whatever episodes. Won’t bother again. Well OK maybe the Australian version for comparison reasons only.
Apart from the ABS light that pops on every time we go over big bumps Naz ran like a dream, except one blip where we pulled overthinking we had a puncture but didn’t. No idea.
Highlights were Maisy dog being sick, stopping for a leg stretch and an overpriced take away mocha coffee at Kahve Diyari, but sometimes needs must, and a couple of flocks of sheep.
We stopped at BIM to get chicken doner meat, but all sold out. There were some really nice slippers, labelled at only 79tl . I was definitely having those. Apparently not because the till won’t recognise the bar code the guy told me. I wasn’t surprised.
So, just a pack of chicken ham for the little street dog outside. He didn’t like it but his big friend appeared and wanted it all. He wasn’t impressed as he had to share with the 12 or more cats that appeared.
In the blink of just under 9 hours, we parked up opposite Troya Park shopping mall in Cannakale, where we stayed once before. There was previously a ‘no motorhomes sign’ which was very much ignored, now there’s 2m height barrier. Never mind, we parked down the side bit. Park 4 night app says you can get in through the exit, but we didn’t care by now.
In the absence of doner meat we filled our formerly crispy loaf with fried eggs. Delicious.
Caught up on the latest PDC darts, tucked Maisy in and time for bed.
Ive forgotten the side panel for my CPAP sleep machine, so that’s useless. Luckily John has plenty of earplugs to deal with a few days of me snoring.
