At 8am the Jandarma woke us up knocking on our door.
What are you doing? Ahh, tourists, ok.
It’s good that they check everyone is ok and at least it wasn’t any earlier than 8.
It was actually a little chilly this morning. Autumn is here. 28 degrees in the day and comfortable to sleep at night. Perfect.
We parked as soon as we saw a relatively close space to Marmaris town and at 11am met up with my son Curt and his girlfriend Cherry.
They both looked relaxed with glowing skin from the sun. They’re absolutely loving the Grand Azur hotel and can understand why people go year in year out.
There’s nothing like a big family hug.
We wandered around Marmaris all day. I spotted a Halk Kafe. I love a “people’s cafe, subsidised by the councils.
Wow, iced caramel iced macciato 35 tl. They are almost 100tl more than that in other cafes. 2 of those for Curt & I, 2 pepsimax for John and Cherry.
The cans were put on the counter. Yep, canned macciatos which would have been even more delicious in a glass with ice. Haha..
We found the Thursday market. It was large and very crowded and only local produce. I bought potatos, lettuce and rocket to make a healthy salad meal later. And plums.
Later we had lunch. Cherry and I skipped the main menu, went straight to deserts and shared a künefe and a deep fried ice cream.
Cherry and I enjoyed a few clothes shops while the boys and the dogs waited for us.
All too soon it was time for us to drop them at their hotel ready for their delicious evening food and drinks and for us to get back on the road towards Manisa. Goodbyes are horrid, but this has been an unexpected bonus and I’m sure to go over to the UK before Christmas to see them again soon.
We stopped briefly, I popped into Bim to buy bread and döner meat instead of making salad as it was getting late. I could put some of our huge lettuce in it to make it healthy. No rocket though as that had died, just a few hours since we bought it.
We were hungry by now and a large bag of salt and vinegar and some chocolate bars fell into my basket.
We stopped at Novada shopping centre. We’ve stayed there before and there’s special campervan and caravan parking, with electric and water points.
We didn’t end up having dinner, full up on junk food.
Romesh cheered us up again, this time in Mongolia, which has some very unusual customs. Don’t think I’ll put this on my very long list of countries I must visit.
