A change of plan

Waking up in Hoşkoy was lovely, in my head we were visiting where people from Istanbul take their holidays and we would be able to enjoy the seaside towns at the end of season.
I hadn’t taken into account that whilst people were still on the beach and swimming back home in Fethiye, the climate up here is much cooler.
People are sitting out in thick coats. We also needed layers to wander around this small town / village. Most places are closed up until next year.
It only took about 45 minutes to walk around, and most of that was spent stroking street dogs and cats. So many of both. There’s a gorgeous crazy puppy by where we parked. Could have easily taken her home.

We drove to Şarköy, again closed up and derelict. A fairly large town but we decided not to bother looking around. We did have to pay a visit to a vet though as Maisy has worms!
From Gelibolu we got a ferry to Lapseki as we’ve had a huge change of plan and are going to go to Bursa. 710tl and a much wider crossing than last weeks Cannakale to Kilitli.

Bursa has been on our wish list for years but it’s not been on the way to or from anywhere we’ve been.
Its about a 3 and a half hour detour from here, so seems a shame not to go.
On the way we stopped at Lake Uluabat. The first parking area was close to the lake but otherwise deserted. The second could have been any old car park, but the 3rd was just perfect. We’re on a little island and it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s a small village, like going back in time but totally beautiful.

The lake is absolutely massive

We’d only eaten biscuits en route today and after our island stroll we were starving. Rather than wait to cook rice with our chicken balti we bought a delicious crusty loaf from the island bakery.
We started a film called Steve. Hated it and continued with Destination X.
We’ve made a list of what we want to see in Bursa, it’s quite long.
Night night from wonderful Gölyazı, Uluabat.
