St. Nicholas Church Piraeus

It can’t be the last day already.

5.10.18

Tony hasn’t been feeling great and breakfast was very early in the buffet area, we bumped into Tina getting something for him to eat in the a la carte area. We had a great breakfast there before all setting off into Piraeus for a wander. It’s as grim as we remember although last time we were dashing to get the metro to the acropolis.

It was good to stretch our legs before going back aboard for pre lunch drinks and we did see a couple of very impressive churches.

We had lunch in the a la carte for a change although not sure there’s as much choice as in the buffet.

John’s turn to feel groggy, left him to sleep and chilled up in the Horizon bar with Baileys Iced Coffees and a book. Lovely just watching the sea and passing many islands along the way.

Tina & Tony joined me later and we all enjoyed reading and chilling.

We arrived in Mykonos a bit early, thankfully John was awake and feeling better. We had been given tickets for the Turkish group walking tour and joined them all on the bus. I explained to the guide in my best Turkish that we will make our own way when we arrive in the town as we don’t all speak Turkish. She had no idea what I was on about and I repeated 3 times before she told us she doesn’t speak Turkish…

Anyway, after the short bus ride we set off alone. Last April there was a biting cold wind there, so today we had taken no chances..but still incredibly cold and windy although without last year’s frostbite.

It really is picture postcard stunning and we took loads of photos. There are some fabulous shops, beautiful craftsmanship but very expensive.

We wandered for as long as we could cope with and left Tina & Tony so we could explore areas we missed last time when it was even more freezing. After one particularly blowy alleyway got a tour bus back to the ship for much needed cocktails.

The queues for the restaurant started building up so we didn’t wait any longer for the others.

We joined a large circular table where 2 fab ladies from Atlanta had us all chatting and bonding. Renee had us remembering each others names and revealing our obsessions. Renee & Deborah from Atlanta, Michael from India but now in Texas, Caterina and Denise from Australia. ıt was a great meal time.

Tina & Tony joined us for the Cirque Fantasia show, some excellent singing, dancing and acrobatics.

It’s sad that it’s our last evening, its whizzed by in a blur and we have loved it.

Thank you Celestyal. We will be back.
