John suggested we have a beach day. Unusual suggestion from him, but the reality is that there’s not much more to see in Khao Takiab.

We stopped for brunch along the small main road close to Zea Za bungalows.

There’s one place that caters for us farangs, it even has HP sauce on all the tables. Every time we’ve passed it’s just older men in there.

The menu is very British pie & mash and so on. This is where we could have opened a conversation about life here, but we’re not convinced we’d be looking for the same things. 😉

So we opted for another little cafe, Boraan, only us in there, lovely smiley staff.

I had a full English and John had pork flied lice.

Off to the nearby beach. Loads of beach bars, all charging just 50 thb (just over £1) for 2 sunbeds and a brolly. That was refreshing as Fethiye are charging ridiculous prices in some places.

We had 2 delicious pineapple frappes and settled down for a relaxing day. John swam, I was just the right temperature, and couldn’t be bothered.

The only slight annoyance were the people who kept coming to try and sell us things, but after a while it was fine. They have a living to make and it was amusing to see what was next.

They all had big smiles. It’s definitely friendlier outside the city.

Sarongs, bikinis, dresses, sunglasses, jewellery, t shirts…

Around 6pm we ordered iced coffee, pineapple frappe, Pad thai, 2 chicken flied lice and papaya salad.

It was delicious.

We started waiting for sunset, but then realised it’s going to set in the opposite direction. In the unlikely event that we ever wake up early, we could go and see a sunrise.

As we were leaving sunbeds, brollies, tables, chairs etc were being moved backwards and stacked. The guy there explained that the beaches close on Wednesdays for cleaning.

I’m surprised it takes a whole day, we’ve not seen any litter on the beaches. Off the beaches there’s plenty, a losing battle between the bins and the monkeys.

I wouldn’t be the weird monkey feeding lady, we would be that weird couple. John took all our unwanted cucumber and lettuce and gave it to some monkeys.

Cucumber was a definite hit, they weren’t interested in the lettuce.

So that was our day. Not much else to say, it was simple and very lovely.
