It’s been so lovely in the mornings taking my coffee into Lauren’s room before John wakes up and sitting in her bed together. We’ve talked so much, such lovely catch ups.
When I woke up after 9am there was a normal message from her around 7am asking if I was awake yet.
According to my watch I’d slept for 10 hours. I did feel very rested, but poor Lauren had been awake since 6am.
My son Curt had left me a frantic video message. My house in the UK had a light fitting full of water in the downstairs flat roof extension in the bathroom. He didn’t know whether to get a plumber or an electrician.

Unable to contact me he phoned Lauren. Poor Curt had had a very stressful week at work and was looking forward to a stress free weekend.
Because of the time difference he was now asleep so I put a message out on a UK recommended builders website for a roofer and by 8am 4 people had offered to go and look.
I selected the first 2.
I’ve always been so paranoid about the flat roof going. It happened in a previous house the night Lauren was born and at the time it was a fortune we could have done without paying.
Sam the builder soon messaged back confirming the flat roof needs replacing, with a quote for £150 to do a temporary repair until it stops raining enough to do the whole roof and Curt has taken lots of lamps round as the tenants can’t use the downstairs lights.
So panic over and on with the day.
Decided to give the fried eggs a try today, cooked a bit crispy but as Lauren pointed out, by the time they were in a warm crusty baguette I didn’t notice.
I’ll miss the lovely morning bread.
It was quite noisy in our little area today. Weekends are obviously karaoke time. No one seems to care about how bad the singing is or that it can be heard so far away.
There were also wedding preparations at the end of our road.

The plan was another walk and beach day at An Bang as we much preferred it to Cua Dai.
We chose the same beach sun beds and restaurant as before.
The waves were calm today, both Lauren and John had a swim.

Lunch was great, although Lauren should have stuck with her fresh spring rolls. The day flew by.
We went back by taxi to the hotel and it was nice to rejuvenate after showers.
Our last walk into town, bye bye to the white husky that made us jump every time, bye bye grumpy Pluto lookalike dog, bye bye riverside, bye bye mating ducks, bye bye all the men sitting along where the party was the other day, last walk over Scuffarm Bridge and back to the tailor before going back to Bale Well for our last evening meal.
Laurens 2nd pair of trousers were a little tight, and that was before our planned blow out.. no problem, seams let out and perfect.
5 lovely dresses and 2 pairs of trousers, done. I then wished I’d ordered a wrap around skirt too, it could be ready at 10 tomorrow.. Tempting.. No, didn’t want to come into town again and it all be a rush before checking out.
Being like family now it was hugs and kisses as we left. They asked if we’d eaten and suggested Bale Well, funnily enough..
We were greeted like old friends at the restaurant, they were genuinely pleased we’d enjoyed it enough to go back.
We left feeling humongous and got our last Grab taxi back.
Great news from Sam, a lull in the UK rain. Roof repair being done 9am tomorrow morning, and I’ll have the whole lot replaced in the next week or 2, hopefully.
As we were dirty stop outs until 10pm no cards as we want to be up early tomorrow morning to make the most of our last day together. 😭
