Howling gales and 3 ferry rides

It was so unbelievably windy last night in Geyikli. When we woke up we wondered if the ferries would still be running, they were.

So lovely that the dogs were able to run around safely by the beach where we parked. Even Lazy Maisy had a run!

We opted for a late fried brunch in the van and got the midday ferry to Bozcaada. According to the guy at the ferry port and the guide books a couple of hours on the island is enough to explore.

It’s very picturesque, lots of twists and turns, mainly restaurants, cafes and boutiques. We had read that it is very expensive. The fish restaurants right by the harbour were on par with similar in Fethiye, on the whole we thought there was something for every budget and most were certainly unique and atmospheric.

I even got chatting to a man who was painting jewellry, whose friend Turgut works in a restaurant near to us in Fethiye. Certainly is a small world.

We bought ice creams and explored the castle. Well worth the 20tl each charge (70p)

It was the perfect amount of time on the island and we were ready for the3pm ferry. Without the wind it would be nice to explore at a slower pace and have a leisurely coffee or lunch.

The ferry was just 55tl each return. An absolute bargain and a lovely way to spend the day.

As it was only 4pm we decided we might as well press on to Cannakale and be ready to cross over by ferry to the Gallipoli Peninsular as we plan to explore the battlefields and cemeteries tomorrow.

It was so quick and easy that the next we knew we were on the ferry to Kilitli. 175tl for a minibus size, cash only.

We parked to the side of the huge Kilitli castle overlooking the Dardanelles.

I got some chicken and green curry sauce out of the freezer and we started watching a crime thriller called ‘Dear Child.’ After a couple of episodes I couldn’t keep my eyes open, said I would need a quick nap and woke at 9pm. John prepared our very late dinner.

Watched more ‘Dear Child’. The plot thickens after every episode, but am enjoying it in a weird way.

Will have to continue it tomorrow.
