Let’s go exploring! 26.5.25
This morning I could hear drip, drip, drip.. Nothing to see but a tiny mark on the ceiling, which quickly turned into a larger mark.

Trying to pack for a week in a small cabin bag was challenging, so I opted for taking less underwear and washing it as I go. Great idea until I discovered that one of my 4 big comfies was in fact a pair of Johns little skimpies
Next I discovered that the small unopened pack of facial wipes that I thought would be really handy for this trip were bone dry.
We slept so well, although a park bench would have felt like a marshmallow. We were up and out and on the metro B line by 8.45am. As the journey time to the centre is less than 30 minutes we bought 30kr tickets, £1 each.
It only actually took 15 minutes from Jinonice to Mustek.
.We thought we had got off the metro in the Old Town centre, it was nice, but not as I expected.
Prague New Town
It turned out to be the New Town. ‘Let’s just wander’ I suggested. After seeing the same places 3 times, well almost, we went for a coffee and an action plan. We chose Mc Donalds because I love their coffee, free wifi and they would have a loo. John ordered a coffee and a milkshake, and then a question popped up. Would you like to add any of the following? Wow! 45kr Cheeseburgers, oh go on then. The loo was 20kr even for customers. Almost half the cost of a cheeseburger!
Plan made, we headed off from Wenceslas Square to points of interest from our list that John we added to google maps.
We arrived firstly at the old market, it should have actually been the last port of call. Oh well. We tried.

Food!!
29.66 kr = £1
One thing that really concerned me when researching Prague was the food, pork kneecaps and dumplings don’t appeal. I definitely didn’t need to worry. On our travels today we’ve seen countless Asian, Indian, Italian, even Palestinian and Georgian eateries

Incredible architecture

Old Town
The old town was literally just a few minutes walk away. As we entered the Town Square we were amazed. So incredible and difficult to know what to look at first.
We sstarted with the amazing Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and then to the Astronomical Clock ready for its 4pm display.

At around 5pm it started to drizzle. We contemplated getting the metro back to our room, but we were so close to the Jewish Quarter, also on our list, although we only saw the Spanish Synagogue.

Without getting phones out and getting wetter working out maps, we didn’t try to find any more in the Jewish Quarter and made our way back to the metro.
Along the way we found a little Vietnamese street food cafe and dived in out of the rain.
John had Bun Cha which is what I had yesterday at Ha Long and I had a pork baguette. Really enjoyable. The rain had stopped when we came back out.

We’re masters of the metro now and were soon back at our room. No sign of any further water through the ceiling issues. Interestingly the contact at Villa Jinonice hasn’t replied to my message from 7.30 this morning.
We attempted to watch 1% Club together. I’ve stopped watching a few weeks ago to save them for John as I knew he would love it.
The internet is really glitchy. John found some sort of modem behind the tv, played with some settings and we finally got through 2 episodes, 2 bags of crisps, 2 caramel deserts (not the greatest) and 3 fruity ciders. We’ve walked 14km so we did derserve them.
Now to plan tomorrow…
Observations :
Eating out is cheaper than Turkey. Supermarket is dearer. Fruit and veg are very expensive.
Transport system is great & cheap.
Not seen 1 cat.
Lots of people have dogs
Going to the loo is 20kr. 4 times the 10tl we moan about in Turkey.
Everywhere is clean and litter free.
Cars stop at pedestrian crossings and no one drives around in old cars playing loud banging tunes.
I know architecture students go to Prague to study the buildings
