A bit of geography to begin as a lot of people are confused about where Albania is.

After a nice 9am brekkie at Yuris Guest House, we set off around 9.45 to make the 45 minute journey to The Blue Eye on the way to Butrint National Park. Our accommodation was definitely great value at £22.
After 45 minutes of raised heart beats, (117) 2 impossibly small u turns and being shouted at for expressing extreme distress we reached the main road. Omg. More dead ends than the current Tory government and equally terrifying.

The Blue Eye was worth visiting, we were lucky to get a parking place, really busy, but then it is Sunday. A pleasant walk took us to the actual eye.

We continued our drive across beautiful Butrint National Park to the end. There is an archaeolgical site but being spoilt by our Turkish museum card we couldn’t warrant nearly £10 each admission when we have fabulous ruins at home.
We took photos of the views instead, watched the car ferry and drove back to Ksmail for coffee and cake instead.

Deciding that we should spend some chill time by the beach I found us a £17 romantic beach side wooden chalet. It looked so idyllic that I wondered if I should have booked for 2 nights.
It was basically a wendy house.

I got the giggles, John was horrified and Den of Dens Secret Camping explained these are the larger ones and are a good size for camping. We hadn’t actually planned to be camping.
As there was no room for our cases inside we off loaded everything we need and put the cases back in the car.
The beachfront was just 30 seconds away, via the lovely view.

Black clouds had formed so I decided today wasn’t the day for my first Adriatic dip.

We sat on a couple of sun loungers and enjoyed chilling, until we were asked if we were staying in the hotel. Pretending not to understand we asked how much they were. 1000 lek. Crikey, we can park a car facing the wrong way for that! Around £8, about on par with the more exclusive Fethiye peninsular beach clubs. This was in no way as smart as those places!
Back at base camp we chilled and played rummicub until we were hungry and walked towards Sarande main town until we found somewhere that wasnt a fish restaurant. We ended up in a very nice pizza restaurant, and really enjoyed our food. We got water and Cornettos to eat on the way back.
Our Wendy house is a bit of a tardis inside, I’ve warmed to it but don’t like the idea of waking up and needing to go across for a pee in the night.
As I thrashed John at rummicub it was his turn to thrash me at Phase 10.
We need to decide what our next destination will be. The main beach areas were all manic today, being the weekend. I really would like a dip somewhere pretty and quiet tomorrow, we wont stay long as John gets really bored.
This is all assuming we’re mobile in the morning, we will pretty much be sleeping on the floor tonight…
