I was determined to only eat protein at breakfast. Started well, but it didn’t continue.
We set off for 3 places we missed yesterday, via the war memorial.
It ended up being via a cemetery as well. It’s always interesting to see how different countries lay their loved ones to rest.

It was up, up, up to get to the memorial with a slight detour to admire the amazing houses, definitely a very wealthy area. Bentleys, Porches, Mercedes were going up or down the leafy lanes.
The Slavin memorial area was vast and so well looked after.

These places are so sad and thought provoking. For others it’s an opportunity to show off pecs and tats, or to top up a tan.

We strolled back down and got a great view of Bratislava Castle.

We saw the last of the buildings on our list.

We didn’t go into one of the churches as there was a service.
It was full of people, the one with all the incense was too. It was Tuesday, and Wednesday today so we were suprised.
We had earned a coffee. I chose iced. Strangest iced coffee ever, very strong and bitter, hard to dissolve 2 sweeteners in ice.

I could do a blog on its own about what happened next, but I’m hoping any PTSD will evaporate with a short story! We wanted to get to Devin Castle, a 45 minute journey by bus. A helpful young lady directed us to the big bus station. That’s probably where it all started to go wrong.
The bus station is underneath a whole huge shopping mall.
There was a ticket system inside the mall. We waited 30 minutes for our number and they said we just needed to buy a ticket from the yellow machines at the bus stops. I’d lost the desire to go there by now but wasn’t going to be defeated. Google said we could get a number 70 then change to a 29.
We crossed the big busy road. Asked a young man which direction we needed to go. Yep, I’ll help you, I’m getting the 70 as well. We bought our tickets and got on the 70.
I checked google. Yep, we’re heading the wrong way.
Off we got and walked back to the correct bus stop. 70, then 29.
Simples. That’s not a short story really. Sorry. And relax…
We deserved an ice cream on arrival. (there’s a pattern forming)
It was all stunning and so worth the drama. We both fell in love with the nearby village.

We absolutely loved it here. It was totally worth the traumatic journey.

Getting back was easy. Hey presto there was the other bus station 10 minutes walk away from our Hotel.

After a bit of chill time we set off towards an Indian restaurant.

On the way we spotted the place which we ate at the night before and had lovely pasta dishes,so in we went.

We walked just over 10 km yesterday and just under 16 km today. We were pleasantly tired. Carol fell asleep reading her book.
We have a 7am alarm and new excitements tomorrow.
