Celestyal Olympos

Let the luxury begin

2.10.18

Slept pretty well on the rock hard mattress although John was muttering that he had broken his hips.

Breakfast was pretty much as bad as we anticipated. Nothing tasted how it should, even the hard boiled eggs weren’t quite right. Even the street cats wouldn’t eat the cheese.

We all think we have PTFD, post traumatic food disorder. A waiter reluctantly brought me a teaspoon for my coffee as I refused to measure it into a cup with a wooden stick. I stole it as an act of revenge.

When we checked out I said to the lovely guy in reception that it was a really dreadful place. He 100% agreed with me and is moving to Poland asap. I said it must be an awful place to work and he said its miserable dealing with unhappy people all day. What a shame, but you cannot be a 4 star with paper plates, cups and plastic cups and substandard food. We witnessed a very angry Russian lady in the dining room and guess the plastic cup rule is to prevent staff from getting glassed.

We escaped as soon as poss and drove to the Tuna otopark, parked and walked to our ship. I had goosebumps just the same as last year. Its been hard to get too excited because Tina & Tony have had nightmares with the booking company. They’ve sent their passport info 5 times and last night had missed calls and a text saying they needed to contact them urgently and its been a worry as to whether they would board with no problems. We contemplated calling them but decided to just go for it and board and thank god all was well.

We’re on!

Lunch was excellent with delicious pork chops, battered fish, chicken skewers, saveloys etc etc. Tina was still suffering from PTFD but the rest of us did our best to make up for it.

We pretty much spent the afternoon enjoying the warm sunshine, sampling cocktails, watching people learning latin dancing and Zumba and eating cakes.

I tried a sugar free muffin. Yuk.

First stop Patmos, it’s so cute and so different to last year when everything was shut as it was a Sunday. Having a wifi catch up with an espresso and John is playing with his new friend.

Tonight we have an evening of entertainment when we get back, Cirque Fantasia, same Cuban animation team as last year. Should be fabulous.

Life is good.
