28. 5.25
We were up and in the Jinonice metro station by 7.20am. 3 stops and a brief walk and there was our 8am Regiojet bus.
Just before 8am the miserable driver opened the doors and people began boarding.
The qr scan on my phone produced a big fat red X on his hand held gadget. We kept trying. No.
We definitely booked. I showed him the payment. Meantime a man paid for 2 seats and got on.
We asked to do the same. No. Full.
I checked google for other options. Tram 5 to main train station then Flixbus. ETA the same. Tram 5 went off in the wrong direction, we got off and walked back to the bus station. John booked 2 tickets on the 9am Regiojet bus.
At 10.15am I got an email asking how our journey was, so they definitely had a record of us and only sent the return ticket. I’m sure Mr Miseryguts could have made a call for confirmation.
So we arrived an hour after we planned to. It had better be worth it.
Omg. It was. It felt like being in a postcard or a film set. It just doesn’t look real.
I’m not going to write loads of blurb as it’s been a long day and the photos speak for themselves.
The only downside was the 2 hour ‘free’ walking tour. We normally love those but this guy had no personality and showed us very little. He did give us the equivalent of a verbal dissertation about communism and threw lots of dates about. Very knowledgeable I’m sure but after 25 minutes in the church talking about more communism myself and the 5 American ladies were glazing over.
The tour finished at 4pm. Too late to get admission to the Baroque Theatre, which he claimed is the best part of the castle complex.

We’d have liked to have climbed the beautiful castle tower, but decided we’ve seen the views over the city from the castle and it was drizzling.
Without further ado here are reams of photos.
Anyone who has time while in Prague should visit this magical place. Even better stay overnight to have time to see all the museums and galleries.

We walked back up towards the bus station for our 7pm bus back to Prague and had amazing kebabs from a little kiosk. They didn’t have hot drinks so I decided to nip into the Co op to see if they had any.
I couldn’t get in the sliding glass door, a guy outside explained that I need to download an app and then scan the qr on the small panel by the door. An app! For the Co op! Big fat no from me. At the bus station was a shop / cafe. The coffee was excellent and the gate for the toilet was open. A wee without paying felt fabulous.
The journey back was comfortable and went quickly, I even had a little snooze. We arrived at Prague bus station at 9.40pm, straight onto the metro and back to our room. The public transport system is amazing here.
We watched the 1st Episode of the latest Clarksons Farm series. In love with the new girl already and can’t wait for the next episode.
Tomorrow is our last full day in Prague and we have a large list to get through. Eeek. The time has flown by.
Oh.. Before I close.. Lidl snacks that we bought for yesterdays journey… Chocolate chip cookies.. Incredible. Unidentified crisps due to google translate failure – mustard flavour. Yep. Mustard.
I’ve not dared to try them.
All sounds great fun Linda despite some setbacks with bus bookings. That kind of thing would really get to me: but a laid back approach is always best as these things are sent to try us. Glad you enjoyed your castle visit. Continue to enjoy your final hours/days in Prague.
