Turkish hospitality is just the best.

As John said last night, we’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful country.
It was lovely and peaceful last night by Barış kordon, Cannakale next to the park. No noise overnight from the Pomeranian and they’d left by the time I’d made breakfast.
The big surprise was how low the planes are when they’re coming in to land at Cannakale airport. It was great actually, sadly few and far between.

We had our breakfast out on the green.
Our friends Arzu & Yaşar from the English Learning Centre, where I used to volunteer to teach Turkish children, moved to Cannakale 2 years ago, so we arranged to meet them.
They were just 15 minutes away from where we were parked.
Yaşar speaks very good English and hasn’t been able to find English books in Cannakale. Friends Roy & Sunay had collected a huge bag full which we delivered to them.
It was so lovely to see them both so well and happy in Cannakale.

We were spoilt all afternoon : ice cream cake, cookies, take away lahmacun, ciğ kofte, ezmesi, green figs and the loveliest melon.
Very sad saying goodbye to these wonderful people, Yasar suggested meeting in Troya tomorrow lunchtime and visiting their village house.
Unfortunately we won’t get back by 24th September if we do and there’s still places we want to see while we’re up this way. We will make sure we visit them again another time.
We hadn’t decided whether to press on for 3 hours to Bergama or to visit Hasanboguldu almost 2 hours away.
As it was getting late so we opted for Hasanboguldu, there’s a waterfall and a lake apparently. Lovely.
There were some hefty hills and bends to get up there, it felt like the end of the earth in the dark. We reached a car park. 190tl for a minibus but no one in sight to pay the money. It was like something out of a horror film with packs of wolves howling in the distance.
John sat in something wet. One of the dogs had been sick.
All I could think about is how I would explain this scene to a murderer or Jandarma if they turned up now.

We had a sandwich and watched a series called ‘Generation 56k’, nice easy watching. A murder mystery would not be appropriate tonight.
