Another fabulously peaceful, cosy nights sleep. Just as we were preparing to leave our room I noticed water dripping from the ceiling again and messaged the owners.

Shortly afterwards a lady came to look at it and fixed our safe problem by giving us a key for it.

I was very happy that my new Primark trainers are as comfy as my old faithfuls. Better in fact as my memory foam developed dementia quite some time ago and these are nice and spongey. A new Primark hoodie completed my fabulous look! I’m very happy to still be a Primark Medium, in Türkiye I’m Large sometimes XL.

15 minutes later metro B took us to Mustek, we walked from there to the Lady of Tyn church to discuss concert tickets for tonight. We’d asked yesteday, checked prices online, 850kr each but managed to get them for 700kr each with a minimal amount of bargaining.

The Old Town square had exactly the same wow factor as it did yesterday.

Some young lads were trying out the Love seat in the foyer of the Sex Machines Museum.

One lads’ result was warm. So I made John try it and he was burning!

We laughed with them about getting hotter as you get old. They were having another go when we left.

Next we walked to the very ugly Dancing House to begin island hopping.

Island hopping was lovely, I always feel happy by water and it was a great blend of exercise and fresh air.

The buildings alongside the river are beautiful. Some of the little islands have childrens parks, sport courts, cafes and restaurants on them.

Petrin Tower

After Strelecky Island we made a detour towards Petrin Tower Funicular, which was closed as it’s being renovated. So up, up, up we walked. The views were amazing.

We opted not to go up the tower. There’s an elevator or steps. 400 Kc or 250 kc.

Sitting and eating ice cream was much more pleasant. A couple came by with 2 stunning black retrievers. We of course had to make a fuss of the dogs and ended up chatting for a long while.

We walked downwards to the Strahov Monastery complex with them. Before they left us they showed us where to find much cheaper eats, just beyond the Prague 1 border.

The complex consisted of the monastery, a gallery, a library, a gift shop and of course a craft beer pub.

We took the advice given an strolled the long recommended food road until we found something we both fancied.

We were just in time for the Indian Tuesday 12 til 3 lunch menu and opted for the butter chicken, rice and naan 199 kc deal. It also came with lentil soup and was all delicious.

Time to make our way back down towards the river. What beautiful buildings and atmosphere awaited us. Possibly one of my favourite areas so far. Picture post card scenic rather than all graniose.

I had put Certovka stream into Google, not expecting it to be such a gorgeous route.

Charles Bridge

The most well known bridge in Prague, Charles Bridge didn’t disappoint. It wasbusy and had a great atmosphere. Artists, jewellery makers, souvenir stalls and musicians line the bridge.

Our Concert was at 7pm, doors open 6.30pm. At 5.30 we rested our feet and had coffee before making our way to the madly Gothic Tyn Church.

We researched the concerts, which seem to take place in 3 main churches. Some spoke of Baroque Organ, I’m not a fan of the organ, so we chose the Philarmonic Orchestra of Prague.

Imagine our disappointment when the organ started, thankfully followed by the orchestra. Every 2 or 3 classics the orchestra would leave us to listen to unheard of tunes from the organ. The whole concert was just over an hour. We really loved it, but my only thing was wanting it to be more dynamic and louder. I wanted goose bumps, but didn’t get any. Maybe the dearest seats experienced that.

We found a Lidl on the way back to the metro. There was an escalator down to the store.

John had started to go down, saw me taking a photo of the logo and was doing a kind of Mr Bean routine of going up the down escalator. Next there was a thud. John was face down, legs akimbo trying to get up quickly so no one noticed. A lady with a dog in the corner upstairs had definitely noticed and kept shooting glances at me. All I could do was shrug and shake my head.

Luckily no serious damage done. I wonder if fhe insurance company would have paid out if it had been worse. Doubtful I’d say, although they might keep the claim form with the other self inflicted silly ones.

We bought ready meals and snacks in Lidl, in the first aisle my google translate worked. After that we were on our own.

Our metro line B gate was closed off for renovations and after a bit iof searching we found an alternative entrance and were soon back at the room.

We bunged the ready meals in the microwave and watched another 1% club. The sweet & sour and penne bolognaise were surprisingly good.

The forecast tomorrow is rain all day. I’d followed a town called Chesky Krumlov on youtube and really want to see it..it’s a 3 hour bus journey, but everyone says it’s worth it. Being mainly on a coach staying dry seemed a good option.

By now it was 11pm. John selected 8am Regiojet bus tickets to get us to there through Omio, but when the confirmation came he had selected Swedish Krona instead of Czech currency.

Cancelled.

Attempt 2, in Czech money, buggar, only booked 1 person. Try again.

Cancelled.

Attempt 3. In Euros. Great.. How exciting 😍

Time to set alarm for 6.45am and get straight to sleep ready for our next adventure.
